So it's time to put Sophie's b-day gift together. A swing set. Yeah, not exactly for Sophie per se, but there was really nothing else I could think of that she needs...what she wants is to chew on my shoes so obviously....
Knowing it would be a much bigger deal to Sarah, we all head down to the big box in the yard to see what's inside...yeah, I have video!! I'll load it tomorrow.
Anyway...Sarah is excited about the swing set to say the least. Sophie, I now know, was feeling a bit of pressure. :)
You know, we have that Friday appt. You all know how I am about milestones...apparently Sophie knows too. As Sophie and I are sitting inside getting ready for bed I decide there are no good pictures left to get and go to put the camera away. I turn around and what do I see????
Sophie WALKING to bring a shoe to me!!!! It was real walking. I'm stunned. I try to get her to do it again. No. So I put the camera away and go back and play with her. Set her up...she walks!!! Ok, this might be real... do it again...same thing...walks. Four times I do the set up and each time she walks!! So I bring Glen in...performance anxiety. oh geez!! Well, finally he does see it...a few times. So we all agree it's not a fluke or accident. To make it even cuter, this morning she brought me her Crocs and I said "thank you" and she lifted up her foot for me to put them on. I was excited she knew that shoes went on feet...who knew she was trying to tell me she'd need those for walking real soon!!?
So, Friday, she may not touch her mouth when asked "Where's your mouth?"....but she's walking!!!
That little cutie pie.

Just in time....
Well, finally. I've figured out one easy way to get video to the blog...or at least to photobucket. It's just from our digital camera, but still..it takes as much as I can load anyway.
I'm uploading a few test videos now...if all goes well you can see Sophie blow out the candles on her very first piece of cake tomorrow!!!
Yes, that's right...tomorrow sweet baby Sophie will be ONE!!! Granted I missed 8 months, but even the 4 we've been with her seem to have flown by!
She's a joy 98% of the time. 1% of the time she's teething, not fun. And the other 1% she's expressing a feeling about something that she obviously feels strongly about...but doesn't feel like talking about it.
She's cruising around like nobody's business and has taken about 3 steps on her own. I wasn't in much of a hurry for her to start walking but at this point she crawls a 3 min mile so what's the difference, right?
She still really REALLY loves her ba-ba (bottle). I've been hesitant to tell her that her not-most-favorite-person (her ped) is going to suggest the insane idea of weaning the bottle. She is going to be most unhappy about it. You know, on top of all her mercury injections that day...I'm expecting the latter of those 1%'s I talked about earlier. Oh...this happens on Friday.
Sarah finished up pk4 today. Did you hear me crying?? Oh no...not from pride or the fact that she finished a school year. Crying from the pressure. Summer pressure. :) :) She does have a camp with Ballet Magnificat and swimming lessons...but the rest of the summer...oh my. And with gas prices...yikes.
But I am glad to have the rat race of getting "ready" done. And she had a great year and loved everything about it. We'll start officially homeschooling in August. And she can't wait! Every time I ask what is her favorite thing we do together it's always "when we do school". Hopefully Sophie will cooperate too.
I'll close with some pictures I was finally able to load....
"the girls" at the zoo
Katy (the dog): "That's MY ball little girl!!"

She takes my breath away!!!
Confessions of a 2nd time mom: A lollipop didn't grace the inside of Sarah's mouth until she was 3. But when you are trying to watch said first child in the cutest school program ever...extreme measures must be taken. Sophie and her first lollipop at 11 mos old. *sigh*

Moments that take your breath away...
Due to some technical difficulties I can't get my pictures loaded. Grrrr. So I'll digress.
I felt my heart in my throat on more than one occassion this week. When things get a little hard with the day to day I try to pray "Lord, let me see them with your eyes...and Lord, let their heart hear mine." And I don't know why it stuns me after so many specifically answered prayers...but wow...His love is amazing.
Sarah and I have had a hard time being "on the same page" lately...we're often at two different libraries. But my love for her just gets deeper and deeper. In the midst of chaos I had some very purposeful play with her. Nothing special, just some time hanging out despite the burdens I let hang over my head. I usually fall in to bed and pray that she only remembers the play time with me and nothing else. Pray that it's my heart she hears.
This past week was my birthday and on the same day our Mother's Day Tea at Sarah's school. I come in feeling unworthy of being there because I look and feel like a train wreck. And there on the wall is a list of what our daughters said we liked to do. Sarah said "she likes to play with me and do puzzles with me". There was my heart in my throat. Most of the other kids mentioned laundry or dishes, etc. Things, that in all honesty, I do more than play. At first I felt bad that she just made up something...but tonight I realized she heard my heart. Tonight I again realized how intimately close my Savior is to me...and that He knows I mean it when I say I can not do this (mothering) without Him. Every success in me is His glory...every crack in my spirit is filled with His mercy.
I want my babies to know how real Jesus can be to them. And I smile and cry at the same time when I think of Sarah asking to hear "the Easter song" that I love so much. I love that she sings "He's alive and I'm forgiven" now, without understanding it yet. Why? Because God used music with me too. Amy Grant's El Shadai. I had it for years and liked it but didn't have a clue what it meant. Because I didn't have a clue who He was. But THAT night, on the floor and in tears I dug out that cd and listened to it for the first time with "hears that could hear"...and I cried out understanding. And I've never been the same since. And I count on my Abba to call out to my girls in whatever way they will hear...
All this to say...this Mother's Day I'm sure I'll spend part of it wishing I could go back and have a few "do-overs" from the year. But man, am I glad Jesus will never leave me or forsake me.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am sooooo thankful for:
His forgiveness, His love, and His patience with me
A 4 1/2 yr old that sins, is punished, and still loves (still sins too, but that's another thread :) )
An 11 month old's exploration and thrill of discovering....grass! And sand!
A hard working husband that loves me
A couple of minutes of uninterrupted....well, time. :)
Flylady :)
My peeps and their unconditional love
My memories of China...I'm loosing some of them and I hate that.
Pat. Even though I stink at responding to emails, I'm so thankful for you. :)
Anne. When it hurts to pray for what looks like a closed door, knowing you are still praying for the key.
My brother. For being the "tallest Glen" to my Sarah, and a gentle giant to me.
My mom and dad...for a childhood where I don't remember having everything, but don't remember going without either.
