"I Caught a Fish THIS Big"

Seriously, the proof is there! You know, I've imagined a lot of proud moments that might happen with my first born...I can honestly say I never really expected her first "official" accomplishment to be "Winner of the Father/Daughter Fishing Tournament - Biggest Fish". Ahhhh, but it's true!
With her too cute Barbie (or is it Pooh? Who knows, but it's pink) fishing pole and some name brand hot dogs they set out for Old Trace Park. I didn't get to see the day unfold but I hear from some reliable sources that she actually taunted the veteran fisherman sitting across the way who were in no way involved in the tournament. If only they had known that Oscar Myer has a way with f-i-s-h-i-n-g! Now, true to her upbringing, she never touched the hook or a fish....we're strictly cast and reel girls in this family. We're all about technique but the help does the dirty work. heehee
Anyway, it was a fun day all around. Father and daughter got some quality time together and Mommy had some quiet time on the lawn mower. For all you moms that haven't caught on to this yet, it really is great quiet time....the little ones are scared of the noise and the big ones are weed-eating. :)
Here is Sarah and her big fish (as close as Glen could get her to it). Oh, she won a really nice "real" pole too.

We've been on the Ranch

I can't believe I haven't posted since April 5th!!! Yikes!!!
Well, let's see....Sarah finished Mother's Morning Out on May 17th. I have to admit I was a bit terrified of not having those 10 hours a week to myself but we have had a great time together! We had beautiful weather and sat outside under our "shade tree" a lot.
We finished painting Sophie's room, minus a few minor details, and Sarah helped stock her sister's bookcase. After a lesson about how "giving" isn't supposed to mean "giving away things you don't like" we managed to get some of Sarah's favorite "baby books" into Sophie's shelf.
There isn't much to tell about Sophie right now. This week they matched through Nov 7th. Another whopping 6 days. That's 5 weeks from our log in, so yes, potentially we've got another 5 months to wait for her picture. And know what???? I'M TIRED OF BEING PREGNANT! I want my baby. :)
Back to our existing baby :)....she's been at Avalanche Ranch this week. Better known as vacation bible school. And she has LOVED it! It has been such a blessing for me to see her there too. As an adoptive mom you can't help but wonder "what if she wasn't one of the ones picked to be adopted?"...what if all those smiles, laughs, moments of singing to Jesus didn't happened? What if she spent every day longing for one more hug? one more touch? Her life could have been so different but I can praise Jesus that God moved HER file to be matched with OUR file....and today she never longs for anything like hugs or hearing "I love you". Today she sings about Jesus being her all in all and being happy and knowing it and how this is the day the Lord has made. And me? I never thought someone would be so excited to see me after 2 hours apart. I never thought I'd see such bright eyes find me across a crowded hallway. I never thought being a mommy would mean I would be loved so unconditionally.
But...God knew our needs way before we did. And He made a perfect match a world away. And it's almost too humbling to think He'll do it again with Sophie. But I know He will...in His time...and when that time is perfect.
I'll try to post some pictures first of next week of vacation bible school.
