This was the first year Sarah cared anything about a party so we had a big one at Pump It Up. What's Pump It Up? Utter delight for the little ones! You climb, you jump, you fall, you slide....all on stuff that's full of air! Best part for parents? They do all that on stuff filled with air! And they don't care so much if you do it with them. :) Oh, and it's all air conditioned! In Mississippi that's a big plus!
Before her party invites went out I asked her what she thought of getting all those presents. And she shrugged her shoulders and said "I have enough stuff". So we tried to think of something we could do instead of getting more stuff. I suggested books for a children's hospital, food for the hungry, something for China, or something for her friends in China. She was delighted at the last option! "Can I send my presents to my friends in China?" (this is how we refer to the children at her SWI) "Sure you can!"
Then she asked "Will I still get to sit in the big chair?". She meant this big blow up chair at Pump It Up where the birthday child opens gifts. So we decided she would get gifts from her family (because, really...do you think Granma and Papa are NOT going to send her something???) and we would send the gifts from friends to China.
Our hearts were soooooo blessed at the gifts for China. And Sarah is so excited to send them to China. (Haven't gotten the picture with them yet).
She's never been a "stuff" girl. It's an interesting part of her personality that I really look forward to watching how it develops. That's not to say she doesn't love opening gifts, she does. But I think she may turn out to be a very practical little girl.
Well, she's asking if I'm awake yet so she can start talking to me (can you say, "morning routine"?) so I'll close with some party shots. The 3rd one isn't Sarah. It's our friend Natalie...demonstrating proper sliding technique. :)
